1/23/2024 0 Comments Jdm meaning car![]() ![]() So the JDM definition does include conversion to JDM spec as being authentic JDMĤ. JDM vehicle body parts, lights, mirrors, wheels, and emblems are among the popular exports for conversion of non-JDM vehicles" (emphasis added) Wikipedia states: "Vehicle tuners in markets outside Japan often import JDM components for installation on non-JDM vehicles, to attain specific appearance and/or performance characteristics. Use parts from a JDM car in your local one and (as per point 2) it becomes JDM. The main difference between JDM and other markets is spec. The car just needs to be identical in spec to the "JDM" version to be also JDM, also anything made in Japan but adapted to local markets that is returned to identical to the JDM spec is also JDM.ģ. The car doesn't have to be driven in Japan to make it JDM. "Oh if it was from Japan it's JDM": If it was a Japanese part or item released only on the JDM market it therefore IS a JDM item so using this line is illogical.Ģ. I don't see any mention of your USDM/AUDM vehicles with JDM body kits anywhere. Some errors here.ġ. Does a dumped American Civic on hellaflush ROTA's make the car JDM? Not even close. It just gives the addition of a JDM body kit on top of a USDM car. I don't see any mention of your USDM/AUDM vehicles with JDM body kits anywhere.ĭoes adding this part to the 240SX make the car "JDM"? No. Does adding this part to the 240SX make the car "JDM"? No. They also have some very stylish bodywork that has never stepped foot in the door of another countries style (The Type X 180SX kit and the American Delivered 240SX comes to mind). The Japanese have less restrictions on their cars, making for more power. It seems like most people enjoy following the Japanese in style (except for Bosozuku, but that's automatically classed as "potato" (Read: unmentionable word) in the West), and I can't blame them. Apart from the latter, you'll never truly get close to owning a JDM vehicle with just parts alone. Your car will never be any more JDM than it already is, unless you spend the thousands of dollars getting overnight parts from Japan, or drive a Japanese import. If you've seen something been done to a car in Japan, doing it to your own car doesn't make it any more or less "JDM". Yes, it was built in Japan, but it wasn't built for the Japanese Domestic Market. If a car is built in Japan, skips the Japanese roads and heads straight overseas, it DOESN'T make it JDM. ![]() If a car is built, purchased, and driven on Japanese soil, that makes it JDM. ![]() JDM literally stands for nothing more than "Japanese Domestic Market". "Oh if it was from Japan, it's JDM", "oh, if it's got style, it's JDM", "oh, my Left Hand Drive Civic is JDM 'cause it's got ROTA's and is dumped". Keep seeing everyone post things about what's JDM, and what isn't. ![]()
